Abstract

The obstructive sleep apnea syndrome(OSAS) is repetitive episodes of partial or complete collapse of the pharynx occurring during sleep. It is now commonly accepted that this frequent syndrome (5% of the general population) is a major publichealth problem because of its multiple consequences such as impaired daytime vigilance (work accidents, traffic accidents) cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.
Diagnostic techniques polysomno graphy allow easier access to diagnosis. The dentist is one of the effectors which should be heavily involved in the detecting of thissocial scourge. This review article aims, in this first part to clarify elements of screening while detailing the diagnostic process and the clinical consequences of failure of diagnosis of default or lack appropriate care.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the apical sealing ability of the root canal filling of cold lateral condensation technique and the universal single cone's modified technique.
70 single rooted teeth were chimico-mechanical prepared and divided into 4 groups: Group1; 30 teeth with the root canal filled with the universal single cone's modified technique. Group 2; 30 teeth with the root canal filled by the cold lateral condensationtechnique. The teeth of both groups are covered with two layers of varnish, except forthe apical area (2 mm). In the negative control group 3; 5 teeth with the root canal unfilled were fully covered with two layers of varnish and in the positive control group 4; teeth with the root canal unfilled were covered with two layers of varnish except forthe apical area (2 mm). The leakage was evaluated by dye filtration model (1% methylene blue). Collected data were statistically analyzed by fisher test.
The universal single cone's modified technique showed a dye rise in an average of 0.833 ± 0.735 mm and the cold lateral condensation technique showed a dye rise in an average of 1.000 ± 0.885 mm. The statistical test shows that there was no significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.42). It’s seems that the cold lateral condensation technique and the universal single cone's modified technique have the same apical sealing ability.

Abstract

In endodontic treatment, the practitioner is often obliged to intervene in an emergency situation. Any intervention on a vital and especially inflammatory pulp requires a perfect anesthesia for good operative conditions. The choice of anesthetic technique in endodontics depends on the tooth to be treated, the pulp status and the expected duration of the procedure (access cavity preparation or complete endodontic treatment). It is thus indispensable for the practitioner to master both various anesthetic techniques together with their indications and endo- dontic treatment specificities. Prerequisite knowle- dge of concerned clinical anatomy is therefore necessary for a well-considered choice of anesthetic technique in endodontics.

Children with cardiovascular disease often have to consult in the dental office, and to undergo dental care, by their invasiveness, may affect their health. Infective endocarditic (IE) is a rare pathology witch with children and little child, is essentially grafted on congenital heart disease operated or not, but some- times a healthy heart.
The new recommendations for antibiotic prophylaxis of endocarditic in children presented here are based on the new guidelines and have a strict indication of the risk groups and risk situations.
Maintaining good oral hygiene should be a priority. It aims to reduce the risk of occurrence of bacteremia, regardless of origin, especially for bacteremia involving bacteria cardiac tropism.
The management of these patients called with risk requires the dentist working with the cardiologist and a perfect knowledge of precautions designed to prevent major risks that may be incurred by these patients
Through these two clinical cases performed in the pedodontic department of the Casablanca dental school, we will focus on oral care according to the latest recommendations established in the cardiac child.
