Introduction :
In many African countries, the availability and accessibility of dental services is extremely limited. We wanted, by this study, to determine the factors influencing the non-use of oral care in order to improve the oral health of the population of Dubreka.
Methodology :
We carried out an analytical cross-sectional study, over a period of 2 months from May to July 2022, which involved 403 individuals residing in the municipality of Dubreka.
Results :
During this study, we investigated 403 people, among whom 67.25% had never had recourse to oral care. The most represented age group was that between 18-25 years, that is 37.88%, extremes of 18-67 years, and a median of 29 years. With 63% the female sex was more represented with a sex ratio equal to 0.59; 32% of our respondents were uneducated. Housewives were the most represented at 22% in the socio-economic category.Among the socio-demographic characteristics, it emerged from the multivariate analysis that seamstresses (P=0.0094)had a significantly higher risk of not seeking oral care than others. Faced with oral problems andpractices related to the non-use of care, self-medication were practiced by 48% of respondents. The factors identified in the multivariate analysis showed thatfear of the dentist (P= 0.000) followed by lack of willpower (P= 0.001) were strongly linked to non-seeking care. The factors most associated with non-recourse mentioned by the respondents were the lack of financial resources and the high cost of dental care in 23% followed by lack of information on care in 20%.
Conclusion :
In view of the results obtained, we have established that the non-use of oral care represents a highly recurrent phenomenon that seems to be part of the course of the population of Dubreka. Finally, to improve the oral health of the population of Dubreka, strategies for the prevention and adequate management of oral diseases must be developed.

Introduction : Pleomorphic adenomas are the most common benign conditions of salivary gland tumors and account for 85% of all salivary gland tumors In the present study, we proposed to describe the clinical and histopathological aspects of pleomorphic adenomas of the salivary glands
Method :This was a retrospective descriptive study, which covered a 10-year period from 2011 to 2020. It concerned patient records of salivary gland tumors with histopathological findings. Histological report cards mentioning pleomorphic adenoma of the salivary glands were selected
Results : We collected 59 cases of pleomorphic adenoma, i.e. 58.41% of all salivary gland tumors. Pleomorphic adenomas make up the bulk of salivary gland tumors Female sex was predominant with a sex ratio of 0.78. Male patients younger than 20 years were rare with a frequency of 1.69%. The mean age of our patients was 45.28 ± 5 years
Conclusion : The diagnosis of pleomorphic adenoma is essentially histopathological, which reveals their benign characteristics and looks for associated lesions.

Abstract

Devitalized teeth pose a particular challenge in aesthetic dentistry. While still functional, these teeth may exhibit aesthetic alterations, such as variations in color, changes in shape, or structural fragilities. Faced with these challenges, dental veneers emerge as a promising solution to restore both the aesthetics and functionality of devitalized teeth. Dental discolorations are a common aesthetic concern. Chemical teeth whitening represents the primary treatment approach. However, some discolorations prove resistant to these techniques, occasionally necessitating prosthetic interventions. This article aims to examine the application of ceramic veneers as an aesthetic and conservative solution to overcome the challenges associated with devitalized teeth. We will explore the procedural steps, technological advancements, and clinical considerations that guide this contemporary practice in aesthetic dentistry.

Introduction : The objective of this study was to describe the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of acute apical periodontitis in patients consulted at the Conservative Endodontics clinic of the Department of Odontology in Dakar and at the Abass Ndao University Hospital Center in Dakar.
Patients and Methods : This was a descriptive cross-sectional study that ran from October 2017 to June 2018. Patients included0 in this study were those over 16 years of age, with a clinical and radiological diagnosis of acute apical periodontitis and who had given their consent. Data were collected using a survey form containing epidemiological, clinical and radiographic data. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software (version 20.0). A significance level of 5% was used for the tests.
Results : A total of 39 patients made up the study population. Men were more represented (59%). The formal sector was predominant (46.2%). All patients (100%) consulted for odontalgia. Pain assessment on the visual analogue scale recorded the highest score at level 5 (28.2%). The posterior sector (premolars and molars) was most affected (87%). The main etiology was dental caries (97.4%). Radiographic assessment of the desmodontal condition showed ligament thickening in 23.1%.
Conclusion : This study showed that acute apical periodontitis presents a pain-dominated symptomatology and mainly concerns young adults with dental caries as the main cause.
